Princewaleans all,
A happy and blessed New Year to you and your families.
Thank you very much for the confidence and trust bestowed upon me to continue to serve you and the association for another year.
As we start 2025, we look forward with excitement to celebrating our centenary and forty years of the founding of our association. A record number of Princewaleans are now on board and have joined the ranks to celebrate this once in a lifetime occasion. It is important for us to leave a legacy to our beloved Prince of Wales, King Tom. Princewaleans are invited to donate towards the legacy projects – the 100 instruments for the brass band and the multi-purpose sports complex, which will benefit pupils and the school for years to come. There is so much work still to be done not just for the celebrations but also the general maintenance of the school. We will therefore continue to forge ahead in our fundraising efforts as we have always done. I hope we can continue to work together as a team with mutual respect for one another and to improve areas where there have been lapses.
We hosted a successful Skool Daze event in November 2024 and have already started preparations for our Musical Concert which will take place on Saturday 22nd February 2025. Our Day of Worship and Centenary Dinner and Dance will take place on Sunday 27th April and Saturday 31st May 2025 respectively. Summerfest will take place on Sunday 20th July 2025.
The first year has flown by and there has been greater collaboration with the GLC and especially OPWA Freetown. The mentoring and scholarship scheme has been revived and 10 boys were recipients of our scholarship and are currently being mentored. We also note the successes registered by our mentees from five years ago with majority of them graduating from university this year.
I wish you all a fruitful year ahead and look forward to your renewed cooperation towards our association and its work. My prayer is for peace and unity to continue to prevail amongst us and that we always keep a niche within our hearts for Prince of Wales, King Tom.
